Field Recce is in TestFlight beta. If something is wrong, or a reading looks off, tell us. On a beta this small every message is read by the people who built it.

Common questions
The sun overlay doesn't line up
Almost always the compass. Hold the phone away from anything magnetic — a car door, a tripod head, a magnetic case or MagSafe wallet — and move it in a figure of eight to recalibrate. Check Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → System Services → Compass Calibration is on. If it still reads wrong, send us your location and heading and we'll look at it.
Sunrise and sunset are a minute or two out
Expected. Solar position is computed with the NOAA algorithm including atmospheric refraction, accurate to within about three minutes of published almanac times. Local horizon — a hill, a cliff, a terrace of houses — makes a far larger difference than that, which is exactly why you take a sun frame on site.
A measurement looks wrong
LiDAR needs light and texture. It struggles on glass, mirrors, water, high-gloss paint, and in direct sun at range. Get within about five metres, move slowly, and place points on matte surfaces. Anything critical — a gate a truck has to pass through — should be confirmed with a tape.
A room scan won't complete
Walk slowly, keep the phone at chest height, and cover the walls rather than the floor. Very large rooms, mirrored walls and open-plan spaces with no clear boundary are the common failures. Scan in two passes and Field Recce will merge them.
The report link isn't loading for the producer
The link needs a connection at both ends. Check the recce shows Sent rather than Queued. Links don't expire, but you can revoke one from the report screen and it goes offline immediately.
How do I delete my account and data?
Settings → Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your EXT. account, any listings still in review, and any report links you have created. Recces stored on your phone are yours and are unaffected; delete the app to remove those. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
My beta build has expired
TestFlight builds expire 90 days after upload. Open TestFlight and install the current build. Your recces are stored on the device and will still be there.
Known in this build
- Sun tracks drift briefly when you move between indoors and outdoors while the compass settles.
- DXF export writes walls, doors and dimensions only. Furniture from the scan is not included.
- Recces over 200 photographs take up to a minute to bind.
Reporting something serious
If the app loses data, crashes repeatedly, or gives a reading you believe is wrong in a way that could affect a shoot, email us with the date, the location and what you saw. Wrong numbers matter more to us than crashes. A location manager who turns up at the wrong hour because our app said so is the failure we care most about avoiding.
