Built for the location manager and the producer, not the director and the DP. Every frame carries heading and focal length, so it opens cleanly in Artemis. Artemis frames drop straight into a recce.

The workflow today is Camera, Notes and Maps, then a night assembling PDFs. Field Recce puts the whole recce into one structured pass of the site, and it works with no signal.
Photographs
Full-resolution stills and walk-through video, tagged by aspect with one thumb. Every frame carries heading, position, time and lens, written into the file so they survive anywhere.

Measure
Gate widths, height limits, corridors and ceilings taken with the phone's LiDAR rather than paced out. Anything under 3.5 m raises a flag with the vehicle classes it rules out.

Floor plan
Walk an interior and the recce comes out with a scaled plan: rooms, doors, windows, ceiling heights, with power and load-in pinned on it. Exports to DXF and USDZ.

Sun path
Where the light falls at this spot on the day you're shooting. Over the camera or on a compass chart, with both solstices drawn so you can see the whole year at once.

Sound
Ambient samples with reference recordings, plotted on a map as you walk. Judged against sync-sound thresholds, so the quiet corner is named before the recordist asks for it.
Traffic drone. Dialogue on the lawn.
Power
Mains, supply, distance to tie-in, generator space. A structured checklist with a photograph attached to each answer, so the gaffer sees what you saw.

The recce comes out with a floor plan.
Every department wants one and almost no location has one. Walk the interior and Field Recce builds a scaled plan from the LiDAR scan, then lets you pin what a crew needs onto it: hero angle, power tie-in, load-in route, unit base.

Send it as a PDF, or as a link that opens on any phone with three controls — approve, hold, pass. The decision comes straight back to the scout with the producer's note attached. Heads of department can add to the same recce at the tech recce.
Free, because every recce can become a listing.
Field Recce is made by EXT. Locations, a commission-only UK location library. At the end of a recce there's one quiet option: list this location. Tap it, confirm the owner's permission, and the recce becomes the listing. Nothing to upload twice.
No subscription, no trial period, no account needed to capture. It asks for one only when you choose to list. If you never list a single location, the app is still yours.
